Check Out ISAD 2018

Hey everyone! Check out this year’s International Stuttering Association 3 week online conference. The theme this year is “Speak Your Mind” and my, oh, my, there is speaking of the minds going on over there.
There are 37 wonderful contributions from people who stutter and professionals in the field from all over the world. There are some really interesting points being made. There is also a section where you can ask specific questions of professionals who have volunteered to be on a “panel” for the 3 weeks. Good stuff, I promise!
I have a contribution this year. I’ve love to hear your thoughts on this.

Hi.
What a really interesting subject to discuss.
I’ve found myself thinking exactly the same thoughts when speaking to more dysfluent people than myself. I have a lot of patience with other people and will wait however long the other person takes to talk and make a point. But should not allow ourselves to feel guilty about having such thoughts as this would add another layer to our already complex thought processes. We are all equal however severe our dysfluency is and just because I’ve gained a high level of fluency I can’t allow myself to feel superior or better or feel sorry for more dyfluent people. We have a unique dynamic to our community and must support each other as much as possible.
I could write so much more on this subject,
Thanks for bringing it up.
Regards,
Howard
